Darwin Shaw is all geared up for his debut in the Bengali film industry. The Hollywood actor who has featured in films like 'Casino Royale' and 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' will next be seen in a Bengali feature film titled 'Mushrooms'.
In a recent statement, Darwin Shaw says that he is really excited to shoot for the upcoming movie in Kolkata as it means coming back to India, his original roots, though he is still not sure whether he can make it to his father's birthplace Amritsar.
Darwin Shaw explains that Vimukthi Jayasundara, the director of 'Mushrooms' has been a friend of his since the duo met in Sri Lanka, this year. But little did he know that the director would cast him in his upcoming movie, and since Vimukthi Jayasundara operates from France, Darwin Shaw also did not expect that he would be offered a Bengali film to act in. However, the Hollywood actor is very happy with the end result and is eagerly looking forward to filming in Kolkata in the month of December.
Darwin Shaw will feature in the role of a Spanish soldier in the upcoming 'Mushrooms'. The actor, who is also a doctor, recalls his days as a medical student when he first set foot on Indian soil during a drive from Delhi through Rajasthan to Karnataka. Darwin Shaw, however, asserts the fact that acting has been his passion for a long time now, and even though he has been a practicing surgeon in the past, he quickly took to theater studies when he realized that acting was his true calling.
